Give your puppy the best start in life with our 6-week private training program designed just for puppies and their people! At Emily’s K9 Training, we work directly with you to build a strong foundation of trust, structure, and communication.

This program covers:

Each session is tailored to your puppy’s needs and your goals as their owner. We meet once a week for hands-on lessons, and between sessions, you’ll be given homework and support to keep progress moving at home—especially during feeding times, when learning really sticks!

Get started with these 5 easy steps!

Step 1: Schedule Your Free Phone Consultation

Reach out to us by phone or message to discuss your dog’s behavior and training goals. During this call, we’ll answer your questions and schedule an evaluation to get started. Let us know you’re interested in our puppy training program!

Step 2: Complete an Evaluation

We’ll meet with you and your dog for a 30–60 minute evaluation, either at your home or our facility in Tujunga. This helps us assess your dog’s behavior and better understand the changes you’d like to see.

Step 3: Ask Us About Our Puppy Training Classes

After the evaluation, we’ll recommend a training plan tailored to your dog’s needs. Private training packages are available in 6, 8, or 12-week options depending on your goals and your dog’s behavior. The puppy program typially lasts 6 lessons.

4. Book Your First Session

Once you select the puppy training package, we’ll schedule your first training session. Each session lasts about an hour and is typically held once per week. You’ll also be given training homework to work on between visits.

5. Begin Training

Work one-on-one with Emily as she guides you and your dog through a personalized training journey. With consistent practice and expert coaching, you’ll start seeing lasting results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age should my puppy be to start training?

We typically recommend starting training around 10–12 weeks of age, once your puppy has had at least two rounds of vaccinations. The earlier we begin, the easier it is to build good habits from the start!

Lessons are held once a week for six weeks. Each session is one-on-one and takes place at our training facility in Tujunga. We’ll also give you homework to work on during the week to keep your puppy progressing.

Yes! Bring your puppy on a leash and collar or harness, as well as a treat pouch or bag of your puppy’s favorite food—we use positive reinforcement during training sessions. If your puppy is crate trained, you’re welcome to bring their crate for comfort.

That’s totally normal at this age, and we can absolutely help with that! Our program includes support for common puppy behaviors like nipping, jumping, excessive barking, and more.

Yes! We’re available via phone or text to answer questions and provide guidance throughout the 6 weeks. We want to make sure you feel supported every step of the way.

Yes—this is a private training program where you are hands-on in your puppy’s progress. With Board & Train, the dog stays with us and we do the bulk of the training. Private training is ideal for owners who want to be actively involved and learn how to handle their dog firsthand.

No problem! Many clients continue with additional sessions if they’d like to keep progressing beyond the basics. We’ll reassess your goals at the end of the 6 weeks and offer options for next steps.
